This course outlines the basic orientation and treatment principles of Harm Reduction Therapy (HRT) that has proven good success in the last decade in the treatment of substance abuse and dependence in diverse populations. It highlights the value-neutral, pragmatic, and client-centered approach of HRT in building rapport and developing therapeutic alliance with clients. It provides guidelines in the integration of assessment and treatment planning process in achieving the best outcome.
